2010! Halfway through!

Well, shoot people... what to say?

Nicacelly is still alive and well, but you might just want to cop your archived goodies soon, because your girl is headed to graduate school. That's right- it's on, CCA TEXTILES 2012. So there are a thousand thank you's and namaste's and hari om's and shalom's to throw out there, to many to count at this juncture. However, the journey has just only begun.

You might have been waiting for the new season, a website update, marketing mayhem. Here's what I've got brewing for you... the art pot is officially being stirred. Without saying too much, just mark the 20th of August on your calendar to come and celebrate what is such a sweet transition at Secession Art and Design. About our relationship... I've always been one for in-person communique, but there are too many of you cool arse lasses (and mens) to keep up with these days, so I'm asking just for "keeping tabs" purposes that we expand virtually.

We made a selection out of the countless possibilities to give you some bamboo hoodie fleece like we touched before, and now are in straight up indulgence. Really, all this fleece business started when I was about 18. I copped a full length fleece (as in tech fleece) dress, hooded, from T5S, and didn't take it off til I left New York 4 years later to come to the fair Yay (where I have since refused to take off some sort of thong shoe despite the rain and cold- pedi'd of course!) This is homage to the original goodness of our dear Triple 5- and all you east coasters, don't front- you know I've got you open on this one.

Back to '96- the T5S dress inspired me to make a pair of hot pink high waisted, wide-leg sweatpants (where are they now???). This pair was so early on the streetwear scene as we now know it with all its bounty of color had not yet emerged from the khaki and army rennaissance. However! I did bring it back this year with ye ninja pant silhouette (which is 50% off on the peach right now- don't sleep on these! You won't take 'em off!), which our sweet model is featured here rocking them with my size 10's.

As for the remix, why shouldn't we just become the sweet dolls that we are? You will never be cuter and quite flyer and generally more comfortable that you could possibly muster in these dresses and tops- the chainlink style has sweet cut outs, the gem dress is just generally the least general dress that you've ever seen with maximum flavors!

AND THE FULL LENGTH! So when Prety Jeffy and I photog'd this piece on Yani, it appeared that the boutiques were ready for 'em. So I made a selection, most notably for Melodrama boutique in Houston Texas- give 'em a ring if you want one!

Then there are trunk shows deluxe...

SAT DEC 1: CHILLIN' Once a season, we kill it in the proverbial sense at Mezzanine, hawking the gear and getting our festivus on! Join us...

then there is the KPFA HOLIDAY FAIR! Evarize and Mui Mui will be sharing a booth with me- it's going to be on like donkey kong... we've got the goodness to make your mouth watah... there's going to be all sorts of yumminess going on. Don't sleep on the Hard Knock booths- a standard in urban goodness- where else can you get a hand turned bottle stopper and remixed festive dress? Ah... Here!

And United, people! We kinda killed it a little bit, and when Nicacelly says killed, what we mean is we lit it up on fire. And what we mean by lighting it up is really, well, living in the light. And if you want to get fruity with me on that, I ain't scared, so hollerate at your leisure Mr. Pimptastic who secretly stretches out on his yoga mat after hours:) The garms are straight socially responsible, proficient in the best sense of the word when it comes to streetwear for the ladies, and quite honestly, the jammy jam. And what we mean by that is... well, as I am at a loss for the good words, here's some flicks to show you what's up.

This Friday night, join the finest poet in SF for Pinta 6, then hop over to the 'town for a fashion show on Saturday night (not to mention, food, goodies, and too much good music), and what? Then it's MAGIC TIME and UNITED TIME!!! And then, and then, to top it all off, join us in Vegas on the rooftop of the Platinum Hotel when Nicacelly and Hiero Jeans, along with Dig Lifestyles tear it the f up. Now, if you're stickin' in the bay at the end of August, don't sleep on Jacinta Vlach's new performance at the ODC theater- I'm making them some dancing dresses, and I know it's going to be a beautiful performance!!!

Ten minutes in T-town makes like 10 hours. Time moves slowly, and you await the cicadas shaking their wings in the trees to give you a nice mist to cut the heat. After you realize that they only consume water, it starts to make sense why they make a good bar snack with your Chang beer.

We just came north to Chiang Mai from Krabi, where we spent a few days decompressing from the Western life. What appears to be a scary small bungalow room with monkeys on the roof in a few days time becomes what the first verse said- an attunement to the natural balance of things- enjoying the monkeys making magic on your tin roof, electric storms over bbq fish that would shame Whole Paycheck's fish dept., watching the sweat join your legs together in total harmony opposed to soggy terror.

We swam in a lagoon that Bao, our sweet and supple longtail driver took us to when the kerosene-laden shores of lumpy pale English tourists became a little too much to bear. That night, we got the electric light show with a lightning storm over bbq with Austin, our SF compatriate.

Our flight to Chiang Mai was probably one of the scariest we've encountered in our lives. Getting through fluffy clouds during another lightning storm can be beyond the fucking scariest things ever. Thank god we landed. We spent the rest of our evening on a rooftop bar, attempting to shake it all off thanks to some English drum and bass in that included "I've got 5 on it" and a new one from Schooly D. So somehow, we found enough peace to sleep off the Sangsom (Thai whiskey) and make a sweet feast this early afternoon, which bring us to now...

I've got about 24 hours before I need to decide whether the designing will begin or be delayed for two more days. The studio is ready, the heat has subsided (thank god!) and the mellowness of this fantastic northern city is starting to settle in.

I'm headed to Thailand with my dear design and art compatriots Mandy (aka Mandy Most High) and Robyn (aka R Digga). If you don't know the full steez behind the Nicacelly line, it will be illustrated- photo illustrated from the road. From the beginning, your girl Cel (me) has been inspired by the land and the people from Thailand. It started with a whimsical backpacker's journey, and now we're looking into fair trade production, organic fabrics, all that good stuff that we've always been about (and haven't had to advertise- that's just how we do). It's been a minute since I've been back, and I'm stoked to have my favorite design collaborators with!

So join us! Posts will begin by the end of April. We're taking you with us. Robyn's gon be shooting some flix and Mandy and I are going to be designing our brains out- that is- unless the sangsom whiskey gets to us first.
